Cristiano Ronaldo has given the biggest hint yet that he will not be leaving the Bernabeu any time soon. The 29-year-old has revealed to BBC Sport that he intends to sign a new contract with the club, despite having 4-years to run on his current contract.
There has been much speculation concerning the Portuguese striker and where his playing days will continue to. Rumours suggested that Ronaldo was keen on a move back to former club, Manchester United; however, Ronaldo himelf has quashed such suggestion with this statement of a new contract.
“I hope to finish my contract with Real Madrid at 33 and after that we’ll see if they want me to stay,” said Ronaldo.
“I feel young and still a long way off retiring.”
“Being the best in Portugal isn’t enough for me, I’m going to work to be the best ever,” he said.
“I don’t have to prove anything to anyone, just to myself. I want to continue working in the same way because it’s harder and harder to improve my figures.
“I want to be the best at the best club in the world.”
It looks as if Ronaldo sees his career developing at Madrid as he looks to become the best player of all time.
This boy really does work hard!
