Saido Berahino’s delight at being called up to the England senior squad caused the West Brom striker to say a very special thank you, to his Mum. Berahino said that it is because of his Mum that he is where he is today. A humbling moment.
The 21-year-old arrived in England 1o-years-ago after being granted asylum from war-torn Burundi.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Berahino said, “My mum and I have had a long journey,” said the 21-year-old. “She has always been there for me and sometimes been tough with me to get me back on track. We have come from nothing. I have got to where I have because of her help.”
Berahino has dedicated his call up to his Mum and insists they can both share the good news, “Now we have achieved something together and I can share this moment with her.”
A humbling moment from the West Brom and England striker, honest and true. A player showing the appreciation his mother deserves.
