Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has come under heavy criticism of late after some below par performances from the Citizens. A poor run in Europe and the League has caused speculation to mount on the Chilean’s future at the club.

One name that has been thrown out there is that of Pep Guardiola. The former Barcelona boss and current Bayern Munich coach could be one name in the melting pot. City’s deal makers Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano know the Spaniard well from their time together at Barcelona and he may be considered for the position.

Guardiola has won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011 as well as domestic titles in Spain and Germany. A man covered in silverware who promotes the best brand of football, Manchester City will find it hard to overlook someone like Guardiola.

According to the Mirror, a City insider said: “Txiki and Ferran have a real relationship with Pep. There is a belief one day Pep will arrive at City. Given he’s under contract at Bayern people wonder if he is attainable. But let’s see what might happen next summer.”

Should City’s undesirable form continue, the Premier League champions may need to re-consider their management staff.
