Chelsea fans must surely be enjoying life at the moment, their side are sitting top of the Premier League with 29 points of a possible 33 after 11 matches, they are unbeaten and now one of the players of the campaign so far, Oscar, has signed a new deal.

23-year-old attacking midfielder Oscar joined Chelsea in from Brazilian side Internacional for £19.35m in July 2012. He had played 36 league matches for Internacional, scoring 11 goals after he joined the club from São Paulo in 2010. Upon moving to Stamford Bridge, Oscar was immediately important as he appeared in 34 of their 38 Premier League fixtures in the 2012/13 season as he scored 4 times.

Last season Oscar continued to mature for the Blues and played 47 times in all competitions, down from 64 the previous season and the Brazilian did go missing at points under José Mourinho. However, since the turn of the 2014/15 season Oscar has showed himself to be one of Chelsea’s most important players with 3 good goals in his 9 Premier League ties so far as well as offering a depth of creativity.

Chelsea announced on their website the deal would tie Oscar to the Blues till the summer of 2019 as a reward for his fine performances. Oscar said about the contract: “I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England. I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy.”

Oscar has already earned 40 caps for his country, netting 11 times and now he is an established figure at Stamford Bridge, could he become one of the best players in the world?
