Arsenal – Pedro and Alves to move from Barcelona?

Arsenal fans are not happy, it takes one quick search of social media to see supporters split into Wenger in and Wenger out camps… Perhaps something that would help Wenger out would be winning over the Gunners’ fans with some super signings, according to the Daily Express that is exactly what the boss is planning.

Barcelona provided Arsenal with the phenomenal Alexis Sanchez in the summer, a player who has saved the Gunners on a number of occasions already this season. Could Wenger be set to raid the Catalan giants once again in seeking their winger Pedro and right-back Dani Alves? It is understood that this swoop in the January sales would cost the Londoners around £30m.

Pedro Rodriguez is 27-years-old and has developed a great partnership with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez on opposite wings during their time together in Spain. Pedro is a product of the prestigious La Masia academy and has worked his way through the C and B teams before becoming a first team regular. Since making his debut at the beginning of 2008 Pedro has played 176 La Liga fixtures for Barcelona, scoring 53 goals.

Brazilian Dani Alves meanwhile was bought by Barcelona for around £30m (eventually) from Sevilla in July 2008. He became a vital full-back for Pep Guardiola’s great Barcelona side and has club totals of 196 La Liga showings, 309 matches in all competitions. The 31-year-old is coming to the end of his Barcelona contract though and could be off next summer on a free if not sold in January.

Dani Alves is not just being linked with Arsenal but also Manchester United and Chelsea meaning Wenger will have to move quick by bidding £6m to secure the defender. Pedro is also thought to be attracting attention of Manchester United and Liverpool as he looks elsewhere due to the signing of Luis Suarez and the presence of Brazilian Neymar. He is thought to be valued at £24m with Arsenal now the front runners to bring some of Barcelona’s best of previous seasons to the Emirates Stadium.
