Mastercard is offering free contactless travel in London later this month

It’s been nearly two months since Transport for London began allowing payment for public transport using contactless card payments as well as the Oyster Card, and now Mastercard is offering free transport around the city if you have a contactless NFC-ready Mastercard.

It’s called ‘Fare Free Fridays’ and the trial is happening on the 14th and 28th of November. On these days Mastercard users will be able to take advantage of the free travel on the Tube, Buses, DLR, and Overground. It’s designed to try and encourage people to adopt contactless payments rather than relying on Oyster Cards and paper tickets.

The trial isn’t free per-se, but your daily travel limit is capped at £9.80 and Mastercard will refund any charges you accumulate within 28 days.

Full terms and conditions can be found on Mastercard’s website.
