West Brom have opened negotiations with their star striker, Saido Berahino. Albion will want Berahino to remain a Baggie as they look to fend off interest from bigger clubs in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old who has been called up to the England senior squad in recent days has bagged 8 goals so far this season. Berahino had said before he may need to move away to seek Champions League football, but it appears that West Brom are trying to lure their striker to remain at the Hawthorns.
“We have opened preliminary talks with Saido’s representatives,” chairman Jeremy Peace told the club website.
“This reflects proudly on our club and the efforts of all the staff who have played such a key role in Saido’s progress since he arrived here as an 11-year-old,” Peace said. However, it seems to have also generated unwarranted and excitable speculation about his future – which I wish to stress remains very firmly aligned to this football club.”
Should Berahino remain at West Brom or should he look to ply his trade for a bigger more ambitious club who qualify for Europe?
