A summer of spending by Liverpool is yet to pay dividends after a poor start to the season by the Reds. With star striker, Daniel Sturridge left sidelined for most of the campaign, Mario Balotelli has been on the receiving end of much stick from Reds fans. However, with a lack of strikers who are scoring goals, Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers may have to weave a deal to bring in Divock Origi in the new year.
Liverpool signed the impressive Belgian during the summer transfer window for £10m, but was immediately loaned back to French side Lille.
Origi, 19, who had an impressive World Cup campaign with Belgium has revealed to Sky Sports that he is happy to join up with his new side in January.
“It is not me who makes the decisions but if the club choose to let me go in January, I would join Liverpool. I said that I would stay for the whole season and I wish to remain honourable to that, of course. But if there was a decision by the clubs, I would not say that I would not like to go to Liverpool in January.”
Origi has so far played 16 games for the French outfit and bagged 6 goals and it appears Rodgers wants him at Anfield in January.
“I would love to move to Liverpool sooner rather than later. I can’t wait to be playing in the Premier League because I can now see that it will suit me better. I think there are good things waiting for me with Liverpool.”
Should Origi move to Liverpool in January?
