Arsene Wenger has revealed he does not want to sell, Gunners star Lukas Podolski despite rumours that the German is set to leave the Emirates in January. The 29-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game and has expressed his frustration with the lack of first team football he has been getting. However, Wenger sure that Podolski will not leave.
With speculation insisting that Italian side Napoli are ready to move in for the former Cologne star, Wenger quashed all rumours after speaking to Sky Sports, the Arsenal manager said, “It is not established at all that he will leave at Christmas.”
“It is me who sets the price and (the reported deal) doesn’t correspond at all to his price. He is not for sale and there is no offer.
“Podolski plays a position where there is a big competition. He came very late from his holidays [after the World Cup in the summer], so he started after his team-mates and was not good physically.”
It seems Wenger is happy for Podolski to fight for his position at the club and bring competition for places in the Gunners attacking ranks. However, how long will the German wait before moving on?
Should Podolski stay at Arsenal?
