Inter Milan fans were delighted when Roberto Mancini was unveiled as the club’s manager for a second time on Friday 14 November. Mancini took charge of 226 games at the helm of Nerazzurri between July 2004 and May 2008 winning 3 Serie A titles along the way.
Now the speculation begins as to who Mancini will seek out to improve Inter Milan’s fortunes with Steven Gerrard rumoured to be near the top of his hit list. Gerrard of course is coming to the end of his Liverpool contract with the Reds board willing to open negotiations to keep hold of the club icon. However the Daily Mirror report that a number of sides are interested in the 114 time capped former England star and Inter Milan are one of those.
Gerrard has previously confirmed he will continue playing football beyond the 2014/15 season but without a firm off on the table from Liverpool it seemed as though the MLS in America may be the possible destination. Italy though would represent a different challenge for Gerrard and would give him experience in one of Europe’s top leagues, even if the standard has slipped in recent seasons.
Gerrard, 34-years-old, joined Liverpool all the way back in 1987 and has played 483 Premier League games for the Reds. Now loved by every Red fan on Merseyside, it is somewhat beyond imagination that Gerrard will leave Anfield. He has played 678 matches in all competitions winning 2 FA Cups, 3 League Cups and a UEFA Champions League amongst 3 other trophies.
Liverpool fans, do you seriously think Steven Gerrard could leave for Inter Milan or will he sign his new contract in the coming weeks?
