Manchester United have been hit heavily with a number of injuries so far in the 2014/15 campaign. It has certainly effect their results and now the club sit in 7th in the Premier League with 16 points from their opening 11 fixtures. With Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium the prospect on Saturday evening, Louis Van Gaal will be hoping Angel Di Maria will be fit to play.

The Guardian report that Angel Di Maria has had an x-ray on his right foot after Argentina’s clash with Portugal in which Nani, who is away from Old Trafford on loan, stood on Di Maria. Nani was much maligned at the end of his spell with Manchester United but if he had done serious damage to the Red Devils’ record signing, Angel Di Maria, then who knows the levels of abuse he would have received.

Di Maria said after the game, in which he was replaced after an hour: “It was just a blow. I hope it doesn’t swell any more so I can play at the weekend.” His manager, the former Barcelona boss Tata Martino, added: “We don’t think it’s anything serious. It was quite a tough blow he took. It was a tough knock. It cut the skin a bit but we have had a look and are evaluating the situation. We are looking at some x-rays, some images we took, but in spite of that we do not think it’s too serious.”

Angel Di Maria is 26-years-old and cost Louis Van Gaal £59.7m this summer to buy from Spanish giants Real Madrid. The 53 time capped Argentine played 124 La Liga matches for Los Blancos, scoring 22 times and now the winger has 3 goals in 9 Premier League showings to his name.
