Jack Wilshere – some love him whilst others think he is one of the most overrated players in the country. One thing for certain is that you can’t talk about Jack Wilshere without taking about his rotten injury record. His injury woe looks set to continue as BBC Sport report that the Arsenal midfielder is set to see another specialist about his ankle problem.
Jack Wilshere, still just 22-years-old, was announced as one of the hottest prospects in English football when he burst onto the scene at the humble age of just 16-years-old. Wilshere joined the Arsenal youth academy in 2001 and rose through the ranks, captaining the Under-16s. He graduated as an impressive midfielder but has always been plagued by injuries.
Arsene Wenger has favoured Wilshere for a number of years and the 5ft 7 1/2 man already has 94 Premier League showings to his name. Wilshere also had a short loan spell at Bolton Wanderers but after representing the Gunners 147 times in all competitions, Wilshere will be asking what must be done to shake off this rotten run of injury after injury.
Wenger seemed reasonably positive about the 26 time capped England midfielder when he told the press: “I don’t want to say how bad it is because I’m not a specialist medically. The first news is that he will be out for the next few games. To know how long he will need to see a specialist.” So Wilshere will certainly miss Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League this week but will be cursing Manchester United defender Paddy McNair who tackled him, leading to this ankle knock.
