Liverpool have a proud history of academy development, for years legends have progressed through their ranks such as club icon Steven Gerrard. In recent times there has been a multinational flavour to Melwood and one of those is Spanish Under-18 captain Pedro Chirivella.
The 17-year-old has only been in Merseyside just over a year after he joined from La Liga side Valencia for just £200,000 compensation. At the time, Real Madrid and Barcelona were chasing the signature of Chirivella but Liverpool won the race, now the Daily Mail believe Real Madrid will swoop back in for the midfielder.
Pedro Chirivella has improved greatly over the past year and has been training with the Liverpool first team as well as featuring in the UEFA Youth League. Carlo Ancelotti and the hierarchy at the Santiago Bernabeu are known to be tracking the defensive midfielder who has been labeled “the next Xabi Alonso”.
Pedro Chirivella is incredibly confident at reading the game and like most Spaniards is comfortable picking out the right pass. Liverpool regard the youngster highly but can they hang on to him if the Spanish giants come in for him?
