Championship outfit, Brighton Hove Albion have completed the big name signing of Darren Bent on loan from Aston Villa. The 30-year-old joins Sami Hyypia’s side who are struggling to keep their heads above the relegation zone.
Bent has played just 8 times this season, 7 of which came off the bench as substitute appearances for Villa.
Hyypia has expressed his delight at the signing of Bent to BBC Sport, “I hope he will score plenty of goals for us during his time with us.”
Bent move to Villa in 2011 but has lately seen game time dry up under Paul Lambert. A loan move to Fulham failed to spark any serious comeback, but can this be the one that sees Darren Bent return to his former best?
“His record speaks for itself. He is a top-class striker with more than 100 Premier League goals with Charlton, Spurs, Sunderland and Aston Villa. Three years ago he was a regular in the England squad under Fabio Capello; there is no doubting his ability to score goals.
“He also wants to play regular games and that is evident in his willingness to step down from the Premier League to the Championship.”
A good deal for all parties involved.
