Arsenal and Liverpool fans will be excited to hear that they are linked to Real Madrid’s legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas in January. The Daily Express reporting the Spaniard is ready to leave Los Blancos for a Premier League switch.
Iker Casillas joined Real Madrid way back in 1990 and progressed through their youth academy via the C and Castilla sides. In 1998/99 Casillas was handed his Los Blancos debut and has now gone on to play in an incredible 488 La Liga matches. In all competitions those statistics read 695 appearances with an impressive 5 La Liga titles and 3 UEFA Champions Leagues.
Casillas is also vastly experienced on the international stage, representing Spain on 160 occasions. He has won the 2008 and 2012 European Championships as well as the 2010 FIFA World Cup with his country but in recent times has come under criticism for both Real Madrid and Spain for a number of high profile errors.
At 33-years-old, Casillas still has a lot to offer and managed to outlast Diego Lopez who was sold on to AC Milan this summer. Now Keylor Navas is being given the Champions League starting role while Real Madrid are believed to be chasing Manchester United’s David De Gea. It is thought only £4m would be required to prize Casillas away from the Spanish capital so Arsenal and Liverpool fans, can you get him?
