Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal was handed a war chest in the summer to improve his Red Devils side. He signed Angel Di Maria for a club record fee of near £60m and brought in Colombian forward Radamel Falcao on loan from AS Monaco. The Daily Express report Manchester United are ready to ditch Falcao for Uruguayan Edinson Cavani.
Manchester United agreed a fee for next summer with AS Monaco for the permanent services of Radamel Falcao. The cost of £43.5m now though seems set to disappear as the injuries problems the club originally feared when signing the Colombian have proved too. 28-year-old Falcao has spent plenty of time in the Manchester United treatment room after just recovering from a knee injury that ruined his 2013/14 season and ended his World Cup dreams.
Falcao has played for River Plate in Argentina, Porto in Portugal and made his name in style at Atlético Madrid. He netted 52 La Liga goals in just 68 appearances and that commanded €60m to bring him to France last summer. Edinson Cavani meanwhile also moved to France with PSG in the summer of 2013 for €64.5m and has scored 22 times in 43 Ligue 1 showings so far. Cavani’s biggest success came with Napoli in Serie A where he scored 78 goals in 104 games, making him one of the hottest properties in Europe.
So Louis Van Gaal gets set to reject Falcao permanently which means PSG will be in the hunt for his services. Manchester United will bid near £50m for Edinson Cavani who is currently 27-years-old. He is being played out of position at PSG and the club are willing to offload him as he plays second fiddle to Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Manchester United fans, would you trade Falcao to bring Edinson Cavani to the Premier League?
