The Independent are reporting that Manchester United’s exiled winger Nani will be forced to look for a new club after his on-loan club have decided they can’t pay his wages. The Portuguese international had been thought to be happy to stay at Sporting CP where he is currently impressing.
Nani is 28-years-old and earns an annual salary of €5m which Manchester United are now paying. Sporting CP are believed to be desperate to keep hold of the wide man after a strong start to the 2014/15 season but there is no way the Portuguese side can afford to pay the €5m to keep him in Lisbon.
Nani actually began his professional career with Sporting in 2003 and graduated from their youth academy, making his first team debut in August 2005. Over the next two seasons Nani would appear in 58 league matches, scoring 9 goals and earning him a reputation as one of the hottest up and coming properties in Europe. In June 2007 Manchester United won the race for his signature by paying a massive €25.5m to Sporting.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson Luis Nani was important, his 2010/11 season being his most successful with 33 Premier League showings and 49 games in all competitions. Nani has won 4 Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League as well as 6 other trophies. With 147 Premier League appearances to his name, new manager Louis Van Gaal decided he was surplus to requirements and sanctioned a loan deal with Manchester United paying all his wages.
The 83 capped Portuguese international will now be searching for a new club for next season or he will be hoping he can revive his Old Trafford career? Manchester United fans, do you want Nani back?
