Arsenal fans will be hoping manager Arsene Wenger is able to bring in a few signings in January to improve the Gunners’ fortunes. One target is 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva Borges according to The Sun.
The Sun report that Real Madrid have been set to complete a £12m signing of Lucas Silva but Arsenal are ready to hijack the deal and convince the starlet to join them in the Premier League instead of moving to Spain. Arsenal are in 6th place in the Premier League after 13 matches. Wenger’s boys are lacking in the holding midfield role, something Lucas Silva can fill but is he ready for the big step up?
Lucas Silva was born in central Brazil and joined the Cruzeiro youth academy in 2007, aged just 14. The youngster was sent out on loan to Nacional Esporte Club where he played 8 times and then returned to Cruzeiro to make his debut. He made his debut in the summer of 2012 and has since gone on to play 44 league matches for the club, scoring 3 goals.
Lucas Silva has experience with Brazil Under-20s and has also played for the Under-23 side but questions will be asked if he is ready for a team like Arsenal. With 2 Compeonato Brasileiro Serie A titles to his name, he already has experience at just 21. Will Arsenal win the battle to him or will the giants of Real Madrid get their man?
