Tottenham Hotspur fans will be disappointed to see the Daily Star linking Hugo Lloris to Premier League rivals Manchester United should David De Gea leave Old Trafford. Lloris has established himself as one of the league’s best keepers in recent seasons and could be set for a big switch.
27-year-old Hugo Lloris has played 85 Premier League matches for Spurs since joining the club for €10m in August 2012. Last season Lloris featured in all but one of the North-Londoners league fixtures and because the Frenchman only signed a contract extension in the summer, will be thought to cost the Red Devils £25m.
Lloris began his career with Nice and played 107 league clashes for the club before Lyon paid €8.5m for his services in the summer of 2008. Lloris was vital for the French giants, playing 146 Ligue 1 games for the side and earning his fame. Lloris has earned 64 French caps and is comfortable on the ball or rushing out of his goal.
Louis Van Gaal may be set to lose David De Gea for £30m to Real Madrid at the end of the season as Carlo Ancelotti sees the Spaniard as an ideal replacement for the ageing Iker Casillas. Manchester United will have to find a suitable alternative to their 24-year-old and Hugo Lloris certainly seems the right choice if they can tempted the Frenchman from White Hart Lane.
