Spurs are willing to pay cash plus offer Roberto Soldado in order to sign Porto striker, Jackson Martinez.
Martinez was a target for arch rivals, Arsenal in the summer. However, the Gunners opted for Barcelona starlet, Alexis Sanchez. Martinez was a World Cup sensation this summer and the Colombian has been linked with many clubs since then. Transfer talk has cooled slightly along with the weather, but things seem to be hotting up once again in Spurs corner who are stoking interest once again.
Liverpool are also said to be interested in a £30m bid according to the Metro, however, Spurs’ offer of cash and Soldado could prove to be more of interest to Porto than purely a cash sum.
Martinez, who is stalling over a contract with Porto, may be willing to try his hand in the Premier League. With Soldado labelled as a “flop” by Spurs fans, they will be more than happy to see him used as part of a swap deal to bring in someone with the quality of Jackson Martinez.
The pacey, strong, skilful attacking outlet could be the perfect fit for Spurs who need someone to command their goalscoring habits.
Could Martinez be that man?
