Tottenham Hotspur fans have endured a difficult start to the Premier League season, seeing their side beaten 3-0 by table toppers Chelsea last night. One shining light has been the performances of Christian Eriksen who had been in fine form but does that mean he is set to leave White Hart Lane?
Christian Eriksen began his professional career with the prestigious Ajax youth academy graduating to the first team in January 2010. Eriksen went on to play 113 Eredivisie matches for the Dutch club, playing 162 times in all competitions and scoring 32.
In August 2013, the midfielder was highly sought after but Tottenham won the battle for his signature and paid Ajax £11m. Eriksen struggled to make an impact initially but played 25 Premier League matches in 2013/14, scoring 7 times. Since the beginning of this campaign, Eriksen has looked far more settled to life in England and has recorded 5 Premier League goals in just 12 fixtures.
Now the 22-year-old has attracted the interest of Paris Saint Germain whom the Daily Express think will seek as an alternative to previous target, Angel Di Maria. Eriksen has already earned 49 Danish caps and his experience will come at a lower cost than that of Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria. PSG boss Laurent Blanc has said: “I see a great player in Eriksen. He was already strong at Ajax and has become even better in England. It would be nice if we could have him with us.”
Tottenham fans, do you think you can prevent Eriksen leaving England for Ligue 1?
