Manchester United’s defensive has been hit by injury and suspension throughout the season so far. It means Louis Van Gaal needs to look for some reinforcements and one suggested by The Sun is Nathaniel Clyne of Southampton.
Nathaniel Clyne, 23-years-old, began his youth career in the Crystal Palace academy in 1999. In October 2008 he graduated the youth system and made his league debut for the Eagles against Barnsley. Right-back Clyne was described as one of England’s hottest prospects and went on to appear in 122 Crystal Palace league matches.
In July 2012 Southampton were building their squad after returning to the Premier League and purchased Clyne to strengthen their back line. Clyne played 34 of 38 Premier League games in his first season at St Mary’s, continuing his development since that saw him called up to the England full team where he has earned 2 caps.
With over 70 Premier League showings for Southampton, a number of major clubs seek him to join but Manchester United lead the way, Van Gaal being promised heavy transfer funds for next summer.
Southampton fans, do you think you can hang on to Nathaniel Clyne?
