QPR fans will be having mixed feelings as to how their Premier League campaign has gone so far. The beginning of the season saw them and Burnley fighting it out for the bottom position of the table but now QPR’s victory over Burnley on Saturday has lifted them out of the relegation zone to 17th with 14 points from 15 matches.
Harry Redknapp has previously told the world he despises being called a “wheeler dealer” but there is no doubt the experienced manager loves the biannual transfer windows. Now it is believed by Setanta that the 67-year-old QPR boss will raid the MLS looking for an abundance of loan deals as the North American season comes to a close.
One target is striker 138 time international capped Robbie Keane. The 34-year-old Irishman has played over 500 league matches in his long career, appearing in England, Scotland, Italy and the United States but he starred particularly for Tottenham Hotspur. Redknapp managed him at White Hart Lane as he scored nearly 100 Premier League goals in 2 spells at the club and his experience and goalscoring would certainly aid QPR.
Redknapp is also tempted by former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill and American legend Landon Donovan who play at New York Red Bulls and LA Galaxy respectively. Both have impressed in the Premier League and would no doubt bolster QPR’s squad if Harry can pull some strings and make the deals happen.
Redknapp has said about the prospect of QPR moving for LA Galaxy’s Keane in particular: “The MLS market is one that we’ve got to look at. Robbie’s a good shout – he’s a good pro. He would be the ideal type to have around for sure because he would give us something. I haven’t spoken to him yet, but he would be an interesting player.”
QPR fans, do you want to see Harry use his contacts in the MLS to pull off some loan moves?
