Manchester City’s hunt for a long term replacement for midfielder Yaya Toure as put Juventus man Paul Pogba at the top of their list. According to The Sun, Pogba is now the favourite because of the £50m fee Everton were asking for Ross Barkley.

Pogba is just 21-years-old but has already become a major star at current Italian club Juventus. The youngster joined Manchester City’s rivals, Manchester United in 2009 from the Le Havre academy and was highly rated by the Premier League giants. However the Frenchman would only play 3 league games for the Red Devils and he asked to leave Manchester United to be given greater first team opportunites elsewhere.

In August 2012 Pogba compeleted his move to Turin and immediately became an important figure in the Juventus midfield. Pogba has since gone on to play 75 Serie A fixtures for the club, scoring on 15 occassions and often in impressive style. With 2 Serie A titles to his name he has also become a key figure for his nation France, earning 22 caps and representing them at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer.

Speculation has surrounded the future of Pogba in recent months with Chelsea interested in bringing the powerful and creative midfielder to Stamford Bridge. However Manchester City are now favourites to swoop with Manuel Pellegrini on the hunt for an alternative to Ivorian Yaya Toure. If Pogba did make the mega move to the Etihad Stadium do you think he would go on to punish Manchester United for not giving him a chance earlier?
