Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United are understood by TalkSport to be favourite to sign Benfica’s midfielder Enzo Perez in next summer’s transfer window. The Argentinean has been on the watch list at Old Trafford for a number of seasons now.
Perez began his youth career with Deportivo Maipu and moved on to fellow Argentinean clubs Godoy Cruz and Estudiantes. He impressed at both and Perez was handed the opportunity to move to European football by Benfica. The Portuguese giants played €5.5m for his signature and has since appeared in 63 league fixtures for the side, scoring 8 times.
The commanding central midfielder has been admired by both Manchester United and Louis Van Gaal over the years meaning he is a priority target for the summer. Perez also has interest from Spain with Valencia seeking to bring him to La Liga, however with Benfica giving him a £25m price tag, it seems Manchester United will be in pole position.
Perez has represented Argentina on 15 occasions, scoring once and played in the Semi-Final and Final of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Although, at 28-years-old will the Reds Devils be ready to risk a lot of cash for a player who could have a short lifespan in the Premier League? Manchester United fans, would you prefer to be getting Kevin Strootman?
