Arsenal have had a mixed campaign so far, pressure once again growing on Arsene Wenger. However The Metro think he could be ready to turn fans opinions around with a double swoop for a Napoli midfielder and a Roma striker.
The first of Arsenal’s targets is Marek Hamsik, the Napoli captain who currently plays under former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez. Marek Hamsik is one of Serie A’s most talented midfielders who Arsenal have been watching for a number of seasons. The 27-year-old has played over 255 Serie A games for Napoli, scoring 70 times. The Slovakian is tempted by a Premier League move, Arsenal now leading the way for his signature.
Arsenal’s Roma target is that of Mattia Destro who is just 23-years-old and is valued at £15m by Roma. The Italian international spent time in the Inter Milan youth academy before moving on to Genoa to begin his professional career. After time at Siena he was purchased by AS Roma in July 2012. The deal eventually cost €16m and he has since scored 23 goals in 52 Serie A appearances.
Of course Arsenal would have to sell players to make both moves happen, Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell two players set to depart the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal could do with extra fire power up top to complement Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as well as midfield competition meaning both these players would be remarkable swoops for Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal fans, would you be happy with Destro and Hamsik?
