Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers made a major decision on the weekend when he dropped number 1 goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. The mighty clash against Manchester United saw back-up Brad Jones between the sticks for the fixture and seemingly showed Rodgers to be hunting for a replacement.

According to the Daily Express, Liverpool have found a new keeper and that man is Mexican Guillermo Ochoa. Ochoa is 29-years-old again began his professional career with Club America in his native Mexico. In a long spell with the side he played in 211 league matches, before earning his European chance with French club Ajaccio in July 2011.

Ochoa impressed for Ajaccio during 112 league fixtures and this summer was given a big Spanish opportunity when he joined Malaga on a free transfer. The eccentric Mexican has represented his country on 66 occasions and once again was one of the stand out goalkeepers at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. His move to Malaga has failed thus far though with Ochoa finding himself second choice.

Liverpool are thought to be close to agreeing a £3m transfer fee for Guillermo Ochoa who will provide healthy competition for Simon Mignolet. The question remains though how long Brendan Rodgers will remain at Anfield with Frank De Boer now rumoured to be interested in the Liverpool job.

Liverpool fans, who do you think should come in to improve your goalkeeping situation? Does Guillermo Ochoa suit you? How long does Brendan Rodgers have left at the helm?
