Reading boss, Nigel Atkins has been sacked by the Championship club following the Royals dreary 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Birmingham City. Reading are sitting in 16th place, 10 points off the play-off positions.
A spokesperson from the club said to BBC Sport, “Following this weekend’s 6-1 defeat at Birmingham, the board feel that a change in manager is necessary.”
In the wake of Reading’s result, Adkins took to Twitter to apologise to the fans but insisted he remained confident of turning things around.
Good morning Yes bad result on Sat. Read your messages reflecting over weekend. Embracing challenge to turn it around. WE can do it together

However, football is a results based business and the board decided that Adkins time was up. Reading are now in the hunt for a new manager in what promises to be a busy Christmas schedule.
Was it a correct decision to sack Adkins, and is so, was now the right time?
Only time will tell.
