Tottenham Hotspur – Jackson Martinez a major target

Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be desperate to take Europe wide target Jackson Martinez in January and are willing to sell Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado to make it happen. The Daily Express believe they will be forced to pay around £40m for Martinez’s services.

Jackson Martinez is a Colombian born striker who began his career with Independiente Medellin in South America. Martinez appeared in 136 league matches for the side, scoring 55 times and was then purchased by Chiapas of Mexico in 2010. After 28 goals in 58 league showings he was given his European chance by FC Porto in July 2012 who paid $11m.

Since his move to Portugal, Martinez has not been able to stop scoring and during 72 Primeira Liga matches he has netted 56 times. In all competitions his record reads 77 goals in 111 games, goals coming in the UEFA Champions League too. With Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor both failing at White Hart Lane, Mauricio Pochettino would be incredibly well to secure Martinez.

The issue for Tottenham though is the clubs who are willing to sign the flops, Adebayor in particular with massive wages and little to show for it in recent months. Arsenal and Liverpool will also be hunting Martinez and are not going to let Spurs take him without a fight.

Spurs fans, do you want to spend around £40m for 28-year-old, 35 Colombia capped Jackson Martinez or do you think Harry Kane can lead a London revival?
