Liverpool, Chelsea, Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur are the four clubs who will be making up the Capital One Cup Semi-Finals when they take place in January. The two legged fixtures could see League One club Sheffield United reach a major Wembley final against either Liverpool or Chelsea.

On Tuesday evening, Derby hosted Chelsea as the Championship high flyers took on the form team in Britain. Eden Hazard and a stunning Felipe Luis free-kick gave the Blues a 2-0 lead before Craig Bryson gave Derby a chance. However, Derby’s Jake Buxton was sent off and Andre Schürrle made it 3-1 to send Chelsea to the Capital One Cup Semi-Finals. Southampton meanwhile visited Sheffield United on a 4 match losing streak that increased to 5 games as the League One side put them out thanks to Marc McNulty.

In the other Capital One Cup Quarter-Finals on Wednesday night, Liverpool travelled to the South Coast and impressive Championship side AFC Bournemouth. Liverpool have been out of touch this campaign but Raheem Sterling scored a double, either side of a Lazar Markovic strike to put the Reds 3-0 up. Bournemouth struck back through Dan Gosling but the hope was short lived and Brendan Rodgers’ boys progressed. Tottenham Hotspur were the other successful team as they tonked fellow Premier League compatriots Newcastle United 4-0 thanks to Bentaleb, Chadli, Kane and Soldado.

So the draw has now taken place for the Capital One Cup Semi-Final fixtures and third tier Sheffield United will first visit White Hart Lane before Tottenham Hotspur make the return leg. Liverpool however will be disappointed with Jamie Redknapp who drew out Chelsea for their Semi-Final, the match taking place the week commencing 19 January with the Reds travelling to London the following week.

So who do you think is favourites for the Capital One Cup Final now? Can anyone stop Chelsea’s relentless form?
