Southampton’s key midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has been rumoured to be on the verge of a St Mary’s Stadium exit for months. Tottenham came close to his signature in January but now The Sun understand Arsenal are desperate for him.
Morgan Schneiderlin began his career with Strasbourg where he graduated the youth academy to represent the club’s B team. After 5 full first team league showings, Southampton purchased the midfielder for €1.5m in June 2008. Schneiderlin joined Southampton in the Championship as they were relegated to League One, the English third tier.
After two seasons down in League One, the Saints were promoted and then earned consecutive promotions to the Premier League. Now in his third Premier League campaign, the Frenchman has 216 league appearances for his name and is a vital component of the South Coast side’s team. Needless to say, Schneiderlin is highly sought after, particularly by his former manager Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.
Southampton disciplined Schneirderlin in the summer as the 7 capped French international vented on Twitter after they blocked his move to White Hart Lane. Now The Sun think Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal will bid £25m for the 25-year-old to secure his signature ahead of their North London rivals.
