Liverpool fans will be very disappointed to hear that manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled out the prospect of transfer additions during the winter window this January. BBC Sport carry the video where Rodgers says it would unlikely Liverpool add faces.
Liverpool were hoping to kick on this season after a 2nd placed finish in Premier League and a return to the UEFA Champions League. Now though, the Reds finish 2014 in 8th place in the table, 18 points off Chelsea at the top whilst they were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League at the group stages.
Liverpool sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer and that deal brought them mega bucks but also cost them a world class talisman. Along with the injury to key striker Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool have struggled for goals this campaign. New signing Rickie Lambert and £16m man Mario Balotelli have been void of strikes meaning fans may have hoped a new forward was to be brought in during the January window.
Rodgers though ruled out action saying he didn’t always like to bring in bodies during January. He said Liverpool would only move for players who can “significantly” improve his squad and that he had the backing of the owners if he does find a target that suits the club.
With Liverpool supporters asking for a new striker, defender or even a new goalkeeper, is this a wise move by the Reds’ gaffer? Who do you think Liverpool should bring in?
