Chelsea and Manchester City are set to do battle over long-desired transfer target Raphael Varane. According to the Daily Express Real Madrid are prepared to sell and price him at £20m.
At 21-years-old, Raphael Varane is one of the hottest defensive prospects in world football. The French international being qualified to play at centre-back or right-back, both Chelsea and Manchester City are believed to be desperate for his signature.
Varane began his professional career with the Lens youth academy, graduating to play 23 league matches in the French Ligue 1. In June 2011 Real Madrid completed a deal for the highly sought after defender with a €10m transfer fee paid. Varane has since played 46 La Liga fixtures for Los Blancos, 90 times in all competitions.
It is understood Raphael Varane wants more playing time under manager Carlo Ancelotti; meaning with Manchester City and Chelsea both interested the 17 capped Frenchman is tempted by the Premier League.
