Southampton – Martins Indi sought for Saints

Manchester United were heavily linked with Netherlands international Bruno Martins Indi in the summer. Louis Van Gaal coaching the defender on the national stage. Ronald Koeman is another Dutch legend though and according to the Daily Mail he will win the race to his signature.

Martins Indi is just 22-years-old but already has a vast amount of experience, featuring at the summer World Cup in Brazil and playing 102 Eredivisie matches for Feyenoord where he got his first professional opportunity. In July 2014 Porto snapped up Martins Indi for just €7.7m and he has since appeared in 14 Portuguese league games.

Southampton wish to improve their defence that started the season so strongly and shot the Saints to second in the Premier League. However Koeman’s boys slipped up as they faced some of England’s bigger clubs in a heavy run of fixtures and now Southampton are 4th with 34 points from 20 matches.

Manchester United had been hoping to sign the defender who has earned 26 caps for Netherlands (despite being born in Portugal) but Ronald Koeman will move quickly to ensure he gets his man. Southampton will of course have to convince Porto to sell because the defender only just joined the Portuguese giants on a long term deal.

Southampton or Manchester United? If Bruno Martins Indi does move to England, who will he play for?
