Arsenal fans are desperate for their club to strengthen in the January transfer window but one prospective move has been ruled out. According to the Daily Star, Leeds United defender Sam Byram has said publicly he isn’t about to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Sam Byram began his youth career with Leeds United back in 2005 and after graduating to the first team in August 2012, the right-back has gone from strength to strength in the Championship. Just 21-years-old, Byram has a fantastic career ahead of him and the youngster has been heavily linked to a Premier League switch in recent months. Now though it seems Leeds’ defensive talent will remain up North for the time being at least.
Arsenal meanwhile have had another season of rotten luck when it comes to injuries. The Gunners suffering particularly badly in defensive. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed to media and fans that the club needed to add bodies to this area of his squad in January but it seems Sam Byram will not be one of these additions.
Byram is quoted as saying in reaction to the Arsenal speculation: “I’ve not heard anything and I’m looking to buy a house in the area. I’m from here and all my friends are here. I’m back enjoying my football, which is the main part, so I’m happy.”
Arsenal are not the first club to try and prize Byram away from Leeds United with Southampton failing with a £4.5m bid this summer.
