Liverpool are said to be eyeing up an audacious move for Barcelona goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The German international joined the Spanish giants from Borussia Monchengladbach for £9.7m in the summer but currently finds himself benched behind Claudio Bravo.
According to reports from the Daily Star, the 22-year-old is weighing up his options as he wants to be playing first team football. Linked with a move to Manchester United earlier in the season, those talks will be diminished after the Reds snapped up former Barcelona keeper, Victor Valdes yesterday.
With doubt looming over the future of Liverpool shot stopper, Simon Mignolet; will Liverpool be looking at Ter Stegan as a potential replacement?
Talking about his time at Barcelona, the keeper said, “It’s good to be at Barca but the situation is difficult. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care and it isn’t easy being a spectator.” said Ter Stegan
“I want to be the No. 1 and I’m convinced that’s something that will happen if I continue to improve and work hard.
He added, “I can only try to prove that I am the best [of the two goalkeepers] and that’s why I came here, so it’s something I will fight for.”
If the Dutchman fails to land a first team spot, will Liverpool come calling?
