Manchester United are desperate to put an end to speculation linking goalkeeper David De Gea with a move away from Old Trafford. Accoring to the Daily Star they are set to offer him a contract worth a mega £140,000-per-week.
David De Gea is 24-years-old and joined Manchester United in June 2011 for £17.8m from Spanish club Atletico Madrid. At Atleti he had graduated from their youth academy and after representing the B side 35 times in the league, De Gea was promoted to the first team. Establishing himself as one of the hottest goalkeeping prospects in the world he played 57 La Liga fixtures for Atleti before his Premier League transfer.
De Gea’s start at Manchester United was a turbulent one with the youngster making a number of high profile errors that cast doubts over his ability to keep goal at the top level. Now though he has 114 Premier League appearances under his belt and is considered one of the league’s best. De Gea has consistently been linked to Spanish giants Real Madrid who seek him as a replacement for the legendary Iker Casillas, whose career is coming to an end.
De Gea’s formidable agent Jorge Mendes is prepared to talk to Louis Van Gaal and other club officials to thrash out a new Red Devils contract soon. It is understood that he will want double his current wages in a deal that would see him as one of the highest paid keepers in the world, especially now he has competition from former Barcelona stopper Victor Valdes.
Manchester United fans, is it vital you keep hold of the 3 time Spain capped keeper, De Gea?
