Liverpool missed out on Xherdan Shaqiri this January which will hurt the Reds fans who were desperate to sign him. Another long term target though is looking far more likely to happen with PSG’s Ezequiel Lavezzi only valued at £8m now according to the Daily Express.
Ezequiel Lavezzi began his at Rosario Central and had spells with Estudiantes, Genoa and San Lorenzo before finding fame at Napoli in Serie A. Lavezzi joined Napoli in July 2007 for €6m and immediately became important in Italy. Lavezzi played 156 matches in Serie A, scoring 38 and assisting 40 goals, in all competitions he netted 48 times in 188 games.
Lavezzi, 29-years-old, was purchased by PSG in July 2012 for €26.5m and the forward, who is often pushed out the wing, has since featured in 73 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 14 and assisting 13. However the Argentinean is far from happy at Parc des Princes and is now set to depart, reportedly after missing PSG’s warm weather training and his salary that is clogging up the French club’s wage bill.
Liverpool have had a terrible time going forwards this campaign with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert both failing to impress the Anfield faithful. Daniel Sturridge’s injury has also hurt the Reds and so Ezequiel Lavezzi’s signing at just £8m would promise much hope.
Liverpool fans, does the prospect of the 37 capped Argentine excite you?
