Tottenham Hotspur are so desperate to secure the services of Winston Reid ahead of rivals Arsenal, they are prepared to offer the New Zealander £60,000-per-week plus a signing on bonus. This is according to reports in The Telegraph who state the transfer fee to be around £3m.
Winston Reid began his professional career in Denmark with FC Midtjylland where he graduated their youth academy and went on to play 86 league matches for the club. In August 2010, Reid was signed by West Ham United and the defender has gone on to establish himself as a key player at Upton Park.
With 113 West Ham league showings to his name, the centre-back’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2014/15 campaign. However with Reid not prepared to sign a new deal, West Ham must make the decision whether to allow Arsenal and Spurs pay a reduced rate for the 26-year-old or they enjoy his services now and let him go on a free at the end of the season.
Reid has earned 18 caps for New Zealand and is determined to make the next step up in his career. Of course the defender will have some decisions to make with Tottenham offering him the chance of more first team football whilst Arsenal can offer him the opportunity at Champions League football.
Where do you think Winston Reid will end up? When will the move happen?
