Hearts have been broken around the world as Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of Norwegian wonder kid Martin Odegaard. Odegaard had been chased by most sides in Europe who sought his services.

Martin Odegaard is just 16-years-old and cost Real Madrid around €3m according to reports in Spain. Odegaard will now earn a reported €80,000-per-week, something that stuns anyone who thinks back to what they were doing at the age of 16!

Odegaard began his career with Stromsgodset in his native Norway and after being fast-tracked through their academy, he has been a key midfielder this campaign. With 23 appearances in Norway’s Tippeligaen, the son of a former footballer, Hans Erik Odegaard, earned major recognition and a battle began for his signature. Despite being a big Liverpool fan though and serious interest from them, Arsenal and Manchester United, the attacking midfielder decided to take his chance in Spain.

Odegaard already has 3 full Norwegian caps but will now be certain to make sure he isn’t a player that peaks too early. With the likes of Freddy Adu a warning of players who became famous too young, Real Madrid must allow the 16-year-old to develop and shine for the next two decades.
