Liverpool have a starlet in 20-year-old Raheem Sterling, is he worth £50m though? Well according to the Daily Star, Spanish giants Real Madrid may be prepared to bid that value for his services this summer.
Raheem Sterling began his career with Queen’s Park Rangers and spent 7 years in their youth academy. Then Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez paid an initial fee of £600,000 to bring Sterling to Anfield in 2010 and he made his debut for the Reds at the end of the 2011/12 campaign. Last season Sterling was vital for Liverpool, earning 9 goals in 33 Premier League appearances as the Reds finished 2nd in the table.
Real Madrid made moves to bring the 13 capped England international to Spain during last summer but Liverpool were determined to hold onto their key player. Now though it seems Los Blancos will reignite their interest and make an offer that will be difficult to refuse for both club and Sterling.
Brendan Rodgers though remains confident that Sterling will sign a new contract with the Merseysiders. He said: “It is something the club are speaking with his representatives on and I would think that would be concluded very imminently. The player is very happy. It [the delay] is nothing to do with Raheem, he wants to be here so hopefully we get the solution on that very soon.”
Do you think Raheem Sterling will still be a Liverpool player at the end of the summer?
