Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has made his presence known at Selhurst Park since his arrival at the beginning of January. Today the club’s official Twitter confirmed the signings of Jordon Mutch and Shola Ameobi.
Crystal Palace’s big signing of the day is undoubtably Jordon Mutch’s arrival from Premier League London rivals QPR. The fee was announced as undisclosed but is thought to be around £4.75m initially with add ons. Midfielder Mutch’s switch to Palace may come as a surprise to some with the for QPR player only joining the club from Cardiff City in the summer. However the talented 23-year-old had a mixed time at Loftus Road and will be looking for another chance at Palace.
Shola Ameobi meanwhile is a 33-year-old striker well known to Premier League fans. The Nigerian born forward was a Newcastle United academy graduate and made an impressive 312 Premier League appearances for the Toon, scoring 53 times. Ameobi moved to Turkish club Gaziantep on a free in the summer but after 11 league showings with 4 goals, Ameobi has been given another shot at the Premier League by Palace.
A hard-working and talented midfielder and a proven Premier League striker were both key players needed by Alan Pardew upon joining the Eagles. Palace fans are you happy with these additions? Do you need anyone else before the window closes?
