In spite of claims that he won’t sign anyone in the dying days of the January Transfer Window, Brendan Rodgers may have just bagged a top deal.
Burnley striker, Danny Ings is said to be on his way to Liverpool…but not just yet. The Merseyside club are believed to have offered a fee to Sean Dyche’s side who are reluctant to accept as it would mean their biggest asset departing Turf Moor. On the flip side, Burnley must be looking to cash in soon as Ings’ contract runs out in the summer and the club could risk losing their top goalscorer for free.
However, it would appear Dyche and Rodgers have conjured a deal to suit both parties. Liverpool have placed an offer for Ings which Burnley are looking to accept, but the deal would allow Ings to remain at Burnley on loan until the end of the season. That way the Clarets can keep their biggest threat and hope to remain in the Premier League whilst cashing in for the English forward.
Liverpool may welcome such a deal as key man, Daniel Sturridge is on the brink of a return to Anfield. Struggling for goals, Reds fans may bemoan the decision to once again allow a signed player to leave on loan but could this all come to fruition next season?
Sturridge, Balotelli, Borini, Ings and Origi. All of a sudden, that strike force doesn’t look so lightweight to me.
If the deal is to go through – this could be a solid piece of business from both clubs.
