Southampton are adding a new player this January deadline day as confirmation is filtering down on the addition of Filip Duricic. Southampton have managed to agree a deal with his club Benfica and the club where he was on loan, Mainz.
Duricic is 23-years-old and the Serb began his career with Red Star Belgrade, moving on to Olympiacos’ youth system. In 2008 he broke through into the Radnicki Obrenovac, playing 15 matches. After that the midfielder moved on to Heerenveen where he played 99 league games, that earned him a move to Portuguese giants Benfica.
Derrick’s time at Benfica has been mixed with just 11 league appearances that saw him shipped out on loan for the 2014/15 campaign to Germany with Mainz. However after just 11 Bundesliga appearances they have agreed to cancel their loan and allow him to move to the Premier League with Southampton.
Ronald Koeman, Southampton manager, was clear he wanted to add players on deadline day with at least one player targeted. Seemingly the club have been busy and are ready to announce officially the loan move for midfielder Filip Duricic.
