Stoke City are aiming to complete a deadline day swoop for Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon. Sky Sports News have reported the interest as Mark Hughes looks to bolster his squad.
Aaron Lennon is 27-years-old but is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane meaning he is open to a move away from the Londoners. Mark Hughes wishes to add to his Stoke squad because of the injuries to Peter Odemwingie and Bojan Krkic, Lennon seen as a perfect wing addition.
Lennon began his career with Leeds United’s academy. He spent a short time in the youth system, graduating to the first team in 2003. After 38 league appearances for Leeds, he was hunted by Tottenham Hotspur who paid £1m for his services in June 2005. Lennon was immediately important for Spurs, featuring in 27 of their Premier League matches during his first season there.
Lennon now though has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Mauricio Pochettino and after 9 Premier League showings this campaign it seems his time as a Spurs footballer is coming to an end.
With 364 matches in all competitions for Tottenham and 21 England caps, will he be a good signing for you Stoke fans? Spurs supporters, will you be sad to see him go?
