West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has been a busy man this evening with Carlton Cole and now Darren Fletcher set to join the Baggies. Sky Sports News HQ showed exclusive footage of Fletcher arriving at West Brom’s training ground.
Darren Fletcher is 31-years-old and was deemed surplus to requirements by Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal, meaning he was allowed to move away from Old Trafford. It seems Fletcher’s signing has pleased a lot of West Brom fans who see the Scot as adding vast experience to the squad.
Fletcher joined Manchester United back in 1995 and progressed through their youth academy before graduating to the first team. The midfielder became an important first team player under Sir Alex Ferguson, known as a calming influence and very reliable. However in recent years Fletcher suffered from ulcerative colitis and that saw him out of action for a long time.
Manchester United showed loyalty to Fletcher and he returned but under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal he has found game time difficult to come by. The 66 capped Scotland international still has a vast amount of talent to offer and no doubt Tony Pulis will be very pleased with the signing of another player this deadline day.
