Tottenham Hotspur have been desperate to get rid of Emmanuel Adebayor this January. Now it seems they have a destination as Darren lewis of the Daily Mirror, has reported that West Ham United want Adebayor on loan.
Emmanuel Adebayor joined Spurs in the summer of 2012 after a successful loan spell the season before. However, the 30-year-old striker is now unwanted by manager Mauricio Pochettino who has been trying to find a destination for the 63 capped Togo international. With Crystal Palace missing out on his signature, it seems Sam Allardyce’s Hammers may win the race to Adebayor.
Adebayor began his career with Metz and graduated their academy to the first team. He netted 15 goals in 44 league matches for the club and earned a move to AS Monaco. In January 2006, Adebayor was purchased by Premier League side Arsenal for £3m and the tall forward netted 46 goals in 104 league matches for the Gunners.
After Adebayor’s time in London went sour he moved on to Manchester City for £25m in July 2009. Adebayor scored 15 times in 34 Premier League games for the Citizens but was shipped out on loan to Real Madrid and then Tottenham Hotspur. In recent times though, Adebayor has struggled for goals and effort, even criticising the Spurs fans.
West Ham United supporters, will the proven goalscorer be a good loan signing? Spurs fans, do you want Adebayor out?
