As usual Will is on the money with his trapper hat outfit pick, but here are a few more to choose from for this winter.
Topman‘s version will give you that lumberjack look, while Paul Smith‘s luxe offering is perfect as part of a nouveau grunge outfit. John Rocha‘s corduroy trapper will keep you cosy and warm until first thaw, or until you get on the tube. Whichever comes first..

As the lovely chap in our Yay or Nay heels debate demonstrated there is a burgeoning trend for men to co-opt traditionally female fashion status markers like heels and bags.
Pauric Sweeney’s bag is no half-measure, it’s pure luxury with a combination of python and leather and discreet hardware. It’s such an intricate bag I’m not entirely sure I could see many men going for it, I wouldn’t mind it myself I just need to find a boyfriend who can afford the £1,480 price tag so I can steal it off him!

It has been a few weeks now since I last posted something Obama related, not that the fashion world hasn’t been punctuated almost daily with a new label pushing the Obama cause with some special edition T-shirt or sneaker- something that has been unheard of for any other Presidential Candidate. Could you really see Clinton’s face on the toe box of a Dunk? Neither can I, Monica Lewinsky’s box on the other hand… Ho-ho-ho, I jest. It has got to the stage now where you could have an entire weeks worth of wardrobe clad head to toe in top fashion brands bearing the visage of Barack.

Dear memoirs, walking through the office last Friday between avoiding work down in the samples cage and avoiding work at my desk I was beckoned over by a young female buyer “What size waist are you?” odd I thought, interesting opening to any conversation. I mused for perhaps for only a second and responded “About a 30″ she looked oddly satisfied then slapped a belt into my hand a commanded me to put it on, not to upset the young Miss I obliged and began to remove my own belt, her eyes transfixed on my waist line. I thought in any other situation and I could be labelled quite the Cad, but this, was of course, only business. With the belt on and fitting perfectly the young lady asked me what size belt I usually take, “Ermm I’m not really sure, probably a Medium” she looked at me like I was a fool, and I was because the belt I was wearing was a Small, a Medium would have dwarfed me. I removed the belt and retreated to my desk feeling humbled.
True story that. My point is do you really know what size belt you take? It’s hard to tell and it’s tough for you to measure accurately the length of your current belt without knowing how to correctly measure a belt- step in Atsui and their super useful guide to belt measuring.
Check it out and never be made a fool of like I was.

Moustache gloves. You heard me, moustache gloves. Just in case this hasn’t sunk in: MOUSTACHE GLOVES! In a week of strange pairings Jack Spade has knocked up these eccentric hand socks for the Colette x Gap pop up store in New York. Other than they are available in three colours there’s not a great deal I can say about these because lets face it the pictures speak for themselves, more of which are available over at highsnobiety.com.

T-Shirt aficionados The Hundreds are branching out into footwear and with great anticipation are gearing up to release their first offering: The Johnson. A great name for what appears to be a great shoe, with a Pointer-esque silhouette and vibrant colours The Johnson slips nicely into the growing trainer market.
“A clean, understated shoe that serves to emphasize the wearer’s overall appearance. And it has everything to do with my roster of kicks growing up in Cali. It’s really a concoction of all my favorite shoes that are representative of youth subcultures: Chucks, Winos, Doc Martens, Vans… I even tried to have the laces staggered like a pair of early Jordans do from an above-perspective. I think I managed to pull off a very sophisticated shoe that retains some character, but is ultra basic when it comes to lines and silhouette.” From Sneaker Freaker.
The Johnson should be available soon from your favourite boutiques.

Jordan Askill, a designer whose work for Dior Homme and Ksubi has cemented him as a name to keep an eye on, has launched a jewellery collection at Dover Street Market (DSM.) Dover Street Market is a fashion emporium founded by Rei Kawakubo and her husband and it has become known for its artistic installations, exclusive lines and designer collaborations. In previous years, we’ve seen a hotel room designed by Alber Elbaz of Lanvin and a Tiki-hut check-out.
Akill’s jewellery line is made up of edgy, androgynous pieces that could be worn by either guys or girls and Vogue reports that “the debut jewellery offering features bird, boy and rose motifs as fragile and rare entities – the flora, fauna and humanity of life – set in a claw to denote them as “precious memories to capture“. Lovely.

This year Vibe Magazine turns 15 and to commemorate this mile stone birthday the magazine, with the help of Adidas, has knocked up this limited edition Forum Hi. The sneaker has a subtle colourway but is high on detail with the use of ostrich and snake skin and patterned laces and stripes, also it is limited to only 1500 pairs- so I suggest you get your rear into gear and reach for that credit card now. However if you feel that 1500 pairs is a bit too common for you then there is a single super special signed pair of the Forums that will go to the highest bidder, for more info check it out on the Vibe website.
The Vibe Forum Hi is available from today at any Adidas Originals store and at shopadidas.com.
Jump through for some more pics!

Lad Musician are clearly a brand willing to take some risks. For example, take their studded gloves (pictured above). Although it’s a look associated with people who wear new rock boots, it looks surprisingly wearable, although it would look better if it were just polka dots. The other risk is their inclusion of denim jackets.
These jackets are risky not because no-one is wearing. It’s risky because everything who is wears them horrifically, matching them to their denim jeans and looking like rejects from a Bruce Springsteen lookalike competition. I’m not about to call it a comeback, but denim jackets might just be a viable alternative for people looking to change it up from bombers and trench coats. Lad Musician is available from blackbird and the site’s webshop.

Hungover, Sleep-deprived, Over-worked, Unfit, Uncared for, Blemish-ridden; not exactly the ingredients for a healthy and handsome male are they? Well now, who cares? After you’ve smudged the Guyliner and poked yourself in the eye with Manscara, you might feel yourself in need of a bit of YSL’s new Touche Eclat concealer for men.
Yes, the weapon of choice for fashion editors and socialites the world over has been produced (fragrance free) for men, allowing the male species to live a life of clear skin and hidden ugliness.
The only question is, after previous (and let’s face it, unsuccessful attempts) at man make-up, will this gold pen/magic wand be bought up by us men?

My style pick for this week is this gorgeous Comme Des Garcons wallet from Start London. Mr Start, a past columnist for Brandish, has a great look and I can imagine this item slotting into his vintage chic and classic cool wardrobe quite nicely. The embossed leather is a great cerulean blue, made famous by the brilliant film ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’ The wallet has a zip around two sides and an “internal pocket to hold either coins, cards or bills.”

It’s time for us all to start dressing like Lightspeed Champion. Seriously. Take a look at any highstreet store and you’re bound to see a mixture of chunky cardigans, clear lens glasses and trapper hats. Add these together and you have Lightspeed Champion’s look. Out of these three defining pieces, the trapper hat is the one that looks to make a big comeback.
As usual, Topman are quickest off the mark, covering all bases of the trapper hat from (fake) fur hats to Number Nine-like knitted ones. ASOS are also stocking up on trapper hats, with three currently in stock; even River Island’s online store – usually pretty threadbare – has a trapper hat available. [You can check these hats for yourself after the jump]
Given that it’s only the start of September, it’s fair to say that this will be a key headpiece for this season. The only question is whether Lightspeed Champion will carry on wearing them when he sees so many people copying his style.
