Symmetry Scarves

By Laura on April 21st, 2011

I recently was introduced to this awesome LA based label Symmetry by a friend in California. I immediately fell in love with the way they have put a contemporary spin on the traditional wrap scarf.

The husband-and-wife design duo first launched their accessory brand in 2010, and have made a name for themselves by combining quality and function. After a well-received first run, Symmetry is back and continue to play on the innate versatility of scarves by adding supple leather strips that connect by clasp to leather-backed grommets. One of my favourite pieces has to be the Dixon, which turns from a scarf to a large tote bag.

Check out Symmetry’s online shop here. Prices start at $155.

By Laura on April 11th, 2011

I always seem to have a handful of change in my pocket at the end of the day, so recently have been looking to invest in a good coin wallet. That is when I came across this great one from Untold. I was totally sold by the exposed stitching along the edge, and punchout detailing which reveals different colors including yellow, blue, orange and green. The wallet comes in various shades of light brown, dark brown and black.

Military inspired backpack From Marc by Marc Jacobs

By Laura on April 11th, 2011

Over the last few weeks, I have noticing a lot of Londoners rocking the backpack. After all it is a great way to carry all your things, whether your off to work or going for an impromptu picnic.
One backpack that has caught my eye in particular is this military inspired bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The bag features logo patches and two easily accessible front pockets. While the bag’s design is mostly gray, contrast is provided by the use of off-white towards the base and fastening strap as well as brown for the shoulder straps.

Nothing says summer like seersucker, which is why we love this two-tone necktie from the American company General Knot & Co. The tie features the classic seersucker stripe on the outside and an indigo-colored vintage 1950′s folk art print on the inside which depicts birds, dogs, stags, flora and fauna. G-shock West opens in London

By Laura on April 1st, 2011

Yesterday we went to check out the opening of the Casio G-Shock West store in the heart of Covent Garden.

When we walked in the front door we were greeted by a live street art installation – meant to serve as a dynamic celebration of the transience of the space and G-Shock’s passion for the spontaneous creativity of the underground art scene.

The new store stocks all the latest G-Shock, Baby-G and G-Shock Premium watches. As I mentioned in my article yesterday I have not really been following G-Shock, and honestly did not have huge expectations for the brand. However, any hesitations I once had were completely gone after checking out the new collection. It really feels as though they have given their classic watches new life through new colour ways and shapes.

A definite highlight of the collection was the limited edition collaboration with revered graffiti artist KRINK , the G-Shock DW-6900KR. This watch epitomises the resilience and toughness associated with graffiti culture and blends a classic G-Shock shape with the iconic silver colouring distinctive of KRINK’s style. The watch comes with a number of useful features including water resistance of up to 200 meters, world timer, full auto and flash alert lighting.

One of our team loved the G-Shock DW-6900KR so much, he went back this morning to pick one up

To celebrate the opening of the store, G-Shock will be offering 20% off your first purchase (until May 31st), so get down there soon to check it out.

Head Porter Brighton Collection

By Laura on March 31st, 2011

I am not sure why but I am feeling in a rather nautical mood today…. It probably has something to do with the fact I wish it was summer and of course summer = boats. Anyways rambling aside…I was recently pointed in the direction of this awesome Brighton collection by Head Porter, and its on days like this I desperately wish I owned half of it.

I love how they have simply applied thick navy stripes over their signature styles, including backpacks, waistbags, shoulder bags and even the nautically-relevant sling bag.

The bags are available now online via Head Porter.

Casio G-Shock GRX-5600B-2JF

By Laura on March 31st, 2011

Ahead of the G-shock West launch tonight in Seven Dials, London, I decided to do a little research and check out some of their latest watches. To be honest I was not really expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. One of my favourites is the G-Shock’s GRX-5600, which merges two of the brand’s most iconic styles, the DW-5600 and DW-6900. The result a highly durable watch for those out on the water. It even has the ability to calculate waves with a solar panel for battery collection. Time to hit the beach…

Fluorescent Satchels by The Cambridge Satchel Company for Dover Street Market

By Laura on March 29th, 2011

We recently came across this exclusive collection of fluorescent satchels for Dover Street Market, by the quintessential British brand, the Cambridge Satchel Company.

Available in four colours (orange, green, pink and yellow), the distinct satchels feature a large main compartment with one front pocket and a double buckle closure. I am not 100% sure about the colours, but if you are a cyclist there is no way people won’t see you coming!

The satchels come in 13″ or 15″ sizes and are available on their website here.

The Casio Pathfinder

By Laura on March 23rd, 2011

Looking for a new watch with a more grown up look? Then check out the new Pathfinder range from Casio. This watch has all the makings of the G-Shock yet with more mature refinement.

Incorporating a durable casing with some great outdoor functions, including a digital compass, altimeter, thermometer and barometer. Additionally, battery power can be taken in from solar energy thanks to the “Tough Solar” feature.

However, at the end of the day the Pathfinder is a watch, and accuracy is paramount. This is provided by a 6-Band atomic syncing feature which allows radio signals to calibrate the watch – super cool in our opinions!

Oliver Peoples: Vintage Eyewear

By Laura on March 2nd, 2011

Oliver Peoples consistently impress me with their eyewear collections, and this latest is no different.

The company was founded in 1986 when opticians Larry and Dennis Leight opened an optical boutique on Sunset Boulevard, California. Earlier that year, they purchased an estate collection of vintage American-made eyewear. The assortment included thousands of beautifully filigreed rimless and metal frames, including clip-on metal sunglasses produced by iconic American companies, such as by Bausch & Lomb and American Optical. All the frames were unworn, in mint condition and in their original packaging.

The brothers purchased the entire lot, which included a receipt signed with the name “Oliver Peoples,” who they reasoned was the original owner or distributor. When they decided to sell the estate collection in their retail store, they decided to use this name in his honor.

Now years later, encouraged by loyal friends, family and customers Oliver Peoples founder Larry Leigh, has dug through his personal archive of original Oliver Peoples designs and decided to revive several iconic, brand-defining styles.

He believes, and I’m inclined to agree, that these classic styles is just as strong today as it was twenty years ago. Since very few originals still exist, and because it is essential that the same attention to detail, craftsmanship and the integrity of the original styles be retained, the brand reached out to the same Japanese factory to reproduce these designs in a limited run. The frames will be made available to select customers.

Kenton Sorenson leather iphone and iPad cases

By Laura on February 9th, 2011

There are millions of cases for your various apple products available, but these ones by Kenton Sorenson have really caught my eye. The American-made leather holders are available for both the iPad and the iPhone 4. Both have minimal branding, top entry loading and a beautiful untanned aesthetic that is sure to darken and age beautifully.
