Just two weeks ago, Brandish reviewed the first edition of the Sunday Times Style Magazine’s ‘Mr Mills’ menswear and style column. I decided that Mills needed to brighten up a bit and make the column a little more cheery and summer-inclined if he was to hold the attention of readers. Well, call me egotistical, but is it pure coincidence that the latest edition of the column featured pieces on swim trunks, sunglasses, lime green hair oil and bright-coloured ties?
Jason also picked up on the possible influence of Brandish yesterday with a post on Taz of Sa-Ra. We’re not serious of course, but Mr Mills does look set to be a great read.

Big Brother’s Little Brother (BBLB) presenters have a tradition for being rather cool fellows and after the likes of Dermot O’Leary and Russell Brand, George Lamb is the latest man to be lighting our screens with his look. Take a look at the screencap (left) from a recent episode of BBLB; the cropped and turned up trousers, the worn-in brogues, the grey (still a key colour) and the Alber Elbaz-inspired bow-tie.
Topped off by the same messy but manicured hair that catapulted the likes of Bob Geldof to style icon status, Lamb has the foundations of an up ‘n’ coming sartorial institution.

Brandish favourites D.I.E have recently sneaked out their A/W08 collection. Expanding on the pop culture theme, they’ve now included Andy Warhol amongst the influences for their tees. T-shirts aside, they’ve included shawl collars on check jackets, colour blocked jumpers and geometric print cardigans. View more of the collection after the jump.

I was recently watching Bruce Almighty and during the infamous Monkey-Butt scene (I try to be a serious journalist,) I was struck with the cold slap of sartorial envy.
Okay, maybe not envy but definite recognition. The Gangsta friend was wearing a torn denim waistcoat and high-waisted trousers similar to not only Christopher Kane’s show of last season but to the Gisele editorial of V54.
Check the image and appreciate how unbelievably on trend this man is!

Remember Graniph? If you don’t (and you’re too lazy to click the link) it was a t-shirt site which also hosted a competition to find new designers. The winners were split into one gold prize, ten silver prizes and nineteen bronze ones with Cho Jo Tzu taking the gold with her ‘Peace Love Rabbit Foot’ design.

Reading through The Independent Online last night, I came across this article by Alice-Azania Jarvis on the art of dressing for work. As she states, “the thing about getting dressed for work – the thing that makes it so very difficult – is that work is definitely not about clothes. On the contrary: in the world of earnest employment, such frivolities are almost frowned upon.”
This isn’t true in the world of fashion, a Lacroix suit in blue silk can be just as suitable as a t-shirt and jeans but every job has areas where comfort and utility are a priority.
Follow this link for the article and master your workwear wardrobe.

I am going back to Mumbai mid-August and top of my WISHLIST are a pair of swimshorts. I would attempt trunks but don’t share David Gandy’s body (unfortunately) and want to be able to spend this summer without holding the stomach in and clenching the buttocks.
These shorts by Blend, and found at the shop Juju in Brighton (as seen on Mary Queen of Shops,), are perfect for an on-trend swimwear look. The monochrome palette tones down the loud print and suits the season’s minimalistic look.
Buy online for £15 at Juju Brighton

Round these parts we know who looks good and who doesn’t, but who are the more unlikely chaps working individualistic looks that we admire?
5. Justin Lee Collins
Will Reid: Although Justin may be prone to a too-tight t-shirt, The Friday/Sunday Night Project presenter’s sheer charisma and the fact that those tight tees usually bear a cult band logo mean he’s earned his place on this list. With his faded flares and large Aviators Justin has made many a Friday night worth staying in for, and if he gets his shaggy-yet-manicured locks cut, I for one will weep.

The Farlex Free Dictionary decrees that Monday is “the second day of the week, and the first day of the working week.” That latter part means that for most of us, it is a ridiculously depressing day of hellish tasks and grumpy peers.
So why not add a dash of excitement with these pictures from the August 2008 issue of Dazed & Confused. From the title editorial, itself entitled ‘Dark Magic,’ I present to you Luke Worrall in high heels and other pieces of women’s clothing.
Read on for all the pics.

It’s a staple of every man’s wardrobe (or at least it should be), but who wears the classic white shirt with the most style?
From Becks using it to highlight his tattoos to Mark Ronson employing it as part of his whole 60s retro vibe, here’s Brandish’s look at the best white shirt-wearers out there.

H&M have decided to put a little more elbow grease into their menswear line, focusing on a sort of premium range that will be at thirty stores worldwide. Although no mention is made of COS in the article, it’s likely that the success of their upscale big brother has led them to the conclusion that men will gladly pay more for higher quality.
According to head of men’s design Ann-Sofie Johansson, the collection will focus on daring pieces like jumpsuits, fake fur coats (hopefully like the one that was on Asos) and pieces with clever detailing. The collection will be available in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Hong Kong, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States from mid September.

Shiny Media’s Christmas Dress-Up
After my latest embarrassing fashion incident, I asked different Shinies “What Is The Most Outrageous Thing You’ve Ever Done In The Name of Fashion?” The answers were varied but pretty hilarious all-round.
It’s all wild stuff here on Brandish; a feast of dress-driven adventures and sartorial sacrifice! Continue reading for answers from some of British blogging’s biggest stars.

Despite being a regular visitor to Honeyee.com, I only just noticed their blog the other day. They’ve roped in several noted names, such as Kaws, Visvim’s Hiroki Nakamura, Carri Munden and, bizarrely, John Mayer. These are all great, but the most interesting blog has to be that of A.P.C’s Jean Touitou.
Touitou’s blog focuses on things like the APC butler series, wood research for their perfume bottles and living it “P Daddy Style”. His tendency to write short sentences does leave the reader a little confused sometimes, as shown with his latest post shows. He simply puts up a picture of Nicholas Sarkozy and titled it ‘Sick of this’.

As part of Google Mail, you are constantly bombarded with adverts for whatever your e-mails are about. For me, that is largely fashion and therefore, I receive links to sites such as 80sTees.com. This online store proved to be pretty good; I wasted about half and hour going through the memorabilia.
See after the jump for my top picks-including a Karate Kid t-shirt, awesome NEW YORK MTV t-shirt and an incredible Freddy Krueger jumper (who cares if it’s not entirely wearable-it’s a “deluxe replica”!)

The Sunday Times Style Magazine has, for me, always been a source of great fashion advice but on Sunday, it was the magazine’s new menswear columnist David Mills who I had my eye on.
In his first post (blogger-vocab just fills such a niche in the English language,) Mills talked of great British traditions and this ranged from an observation on cricket attire and classic socks to Huw Edward’s ties.
While entertaining, Mills is too negative and with lines like “Cricket kit used to be…” and “not for the office, please: nobody likes characters,” you are left feeling reprimanded by a headmaster and not advised by a fashion-conscious metrosexual.
